Total Cost of Hacked Tickets

Several of my readers want to know the final hack price of 2 free RTW tickets and the one rev ticket.
We had an original goal of paying no more than $5000 for our tickets, including taxes, transfer fees, etc. Here’s how it broke down.

The True Hack Breakdown

Move AmEx Points: $75 (I am not including the annual Am Ex Rewards fee, which totaled $500 over time)
Move Delta Points into one account: $700 (.01 per mile plus $60 in fees)
Price of Rev ticket: $2999
Taxes and fees on Rev ticket: $1000
Taxes on non-rev tickets: $600 (strangely, the taxes and fees on the two non-rev tickets were less than one rev ticket’s. )

Total price for tickets: $5374. Granted, it was a bit more than our budget, but we realized we were getting three tickets to go around the world for $5400. I think that’s a pretty good deal.

Next up, we should have thought this through a bit more.
